Österreichische Mykologische Gesellschaft - Austrian Mycological Society

Description :

This dataset contains observations of fungal occurrences mainly from Austria, but also from adjacent areas. Findings were recorded beginning in the 1980ies by members of the Austrian Mycological Society and Citizen Scientists of the Pilzfinder.at project. Fungal observations from excursions published in literature are also included. The mycological database is managed by the ÖMG. Initially, the focus was on macrofungi but later on extended to microfungi, i.e. those that can only be identified on the basis of microscopic characters. The plausibility of species identification is checked by a team of experts of the ÖMG, which also includes professional mycologists. The ÖMG is dedicated to improving knowledge about and preserving Austria's fungi following the principle of participative and community-based research for mapping the Austrian fungi. New observations and pictures of Austrian fungi are always welcome.
