Mesure 34 à 38 mm ; dont abdomen de 26 à 30 mm et aile postérieure de 20 à 22 mm.
Diagnose :
Corps bleu et noir chez le mâle, bleu-vert ou jaunâtre et noir chez la femelle. Face dorsale du prothorax des mâles et des femelles avec une tache bleue de chaque côté du milieu. Suture métapleurale complète. Chez les mâles, segment 3 à 6 avec une tache apicale noire. Segment abdominal 7 entièrement noir, 8, 9 et 10 dorsalement bleus. Appendices anaux plus courts que le 10e segment abdominal. Chez les femelles, la face ventrale du 8e segment abdominal ne possède pas d'épine vulvaire. Les ailes sont très souvent plus ou moins enfumées.
Détermination :
Identification facile.
Espèces proches :
La confusion est possible avec Enallagma coecum, notamment pour les femelles. L'absence d'épine vulvaire, et la suture métapleurale complète permettent une identification sûre. Argia telesfordi est très similaire, mais ne vit pas dans la même région (endémique Grenade).

Toute l'année.
Biologie-éthologie :
Cette espèce est inféodée aux eaux courantes à caractère torrentiel, claires, ensoleillées et permanentes jusqu'à 900 m d'altitude en forêt sempervirente saisonnière et ombrophile : ravines de plus d'un mètre de largeur, mais surtout rivières larges à eaux vives et fonds rocheux ou graveleux.
Biogéographique et écologie :
Elle n'est présente, actuellement, qu'à la Guadeloupe et à la Dominique. En Guadeloupe, elle est localisée à la Basse-Terre où elle est très répandue et abondante.
