Diagnose : C. emarginata est une espèce de grande taille, caractérisée par son corps large et convexe ainsi que par son système de coloration : Tête brun-noir, pronotum brun-rouge et élytres jaune paille.
Détermination : Difficulté moyenne, l'observation des spécimens avec une loupe est utile.
Espèces proches : C. emarginata peut être confondue avec C. castanea (Olivier) qui se distingue par son clypéus arrondi alors qu'il est échancré chez emarginata.
Période d'observation : Toute l'année, mais plus abondante en août.

Biogéographie et écologie :Espèce connue du Brésil et du Surinam.
