Diagnose : H. arnaudi est une espèce de grande taille, de couleur noire, bien caractérisée par son corps ovale, très convexe, très nettement élargi en arrière.
Détermination : Difficulté moyenne, une observation des paramères à la loupe est nécessaire.
Espèces proches : H. arnaudi est souvent confondu avec H. pontis Ratcliffe qui diffère par sa coloration noire, son front déprimé en triangle au milieu, son pronotum plus large portant des ponctuations plus fortes au niveau des angles antérieurs, et par son corps plus allongé et parallèle.
Période d'observation : Toute l'année mais plus abondante en janvier et entre mai et août.
Biologie-éthologie : Biologie inconnue.
Biogéographie et écologie : Espèce connue du Surinam et de Guyane
