Diagnose : S. surinamensis se reconnaît à son clypéus acuminé, ses mandibules portant 2 dents égales, sa cavité thoracique divisée au milieu par une carène longitudinale, et à la présence de 2-3 rangées de ponctuations sur les côtés des élytres en arrière du calus huméral.
Détermination : Difficulté moyenne, une observation à la loupe est utile.
Espèces proches : Pas d'espèces proches en Guyane.
Période d'observation : Toute l'année, mais plus abondante de septembre à octobre.
Biologie-éthologie : Biologie inconnue.
Biogéographie et écologie : Espèce amazonienne largement répandue : Vénézuela, Guyana, Equateur, Brésil, Bolivie, Paraguay et Argentine.
