La carapace de cette espèce est plutôt triangulaire, convexe et ses marges latérales portent 5 à 7 épines. Il y a deux épines sur la région gastrique. Le rostre est triangulaire avec une faible dépression médiane et des marges latérales lisses. L'abdomen est lisse. Le telson est divisé par une suture transverse. Les pinces sont longues, avec de fortes épines en rangées régulières sur l'ischion. Les pattes 2 à 4 sont de longueur sensiblement équivalente ; la patte 5 est beaucoup plus petite. La longueur totale atteint 15 mm chez les mâles et 22 mm chez les femelles.
Détermination et espèces proches.
L'identification de l'espèce est moyennement difficile.
Biologie-éthologie.
La biologie de cette espèce est mal connue. Des femelles ovigères ont été signalées en août.
Écologie et distribution.
Il s'agit d'une espèce bathyale très rare, que l'on trouve en Atlantique oriental du Golfe de Gascogne au nord du Maroc atlantique. Les rares spécimens connus ont été collectés sur des fonds très riches en coraux noirs et des fonds avec coquilles, tests de ptéropodes et des éponges hexactinelides, à des profondeurs comprises entre -500 et -948 m.

Corresponds to a report on the basis of at least one observation proved within a period of 10 years (20 years for little-known invertebrates) preceding the year and no presumption of extinction since obtaining the last data nor doubt on reproductive and implemented nature of this population. For migratory species, the presence indicated concerns areas of reproduction.
Probable presence
This status is based on one or more of the following criteria:
search of species incomplete but presence of supportive environments;
ecology of the species consistent with the hypothesis of his presence;
the last reliable sighting is older than 10 years compared to the reference date, no recent specific research and no presumption of extinction from that date [vertebrates, invertebrates and plants well studied (rhopalocera, grasshoppers, dragonflies ...)] ;
the last reliable observation being older than 20 years, no recent specific research and no presumption of extinction from that date [poorly known taxa: fungus, many invertebrates...].
Probable or certain absence
This point covers the absence, more difficult by nature to demonstrate than presence. This status is based on one or more of the following criteria:
intensive but unsuccessful targeted research;
lack of adequate environments;
unobserved species while its presence is easily detected;
unlikely presence for historical or biogeographical reasons.
This status must be assigned to a department in which the presence of the species is casual.
