Ce très petit Pyrgus est brun sombre sur le dessus, avec des taches blanches très petites et uniquement sur l'aile antérieure. Le dessous des ailes est vert-jaune avec de larges taches blanches.

Espèces proches
Elle ressemble beaucoup aux autres espèces de Pyrgus, et notamment P. alveus, P . andromedae, ou encore P. cacaliae. L'examen des génitalias est nécessaire pour confirmer l'identification.

Les adultes volent en juillet.
Biologie – éthologie
Les œufs sont pondus isolément sur le dessous des feuilles et les bourgeons de l'Hélianthème alpestre Helianthemum italicum. La chenille grandit peu et hiberne encore très petite. Elle reprend son activité en juin, et hiberne un second hiver, dans un abri constitué de 7 à 8 feuilles cousues ensemble. Elle se nymphose enfin au printemps suivant dans un abri dense de feuilles cousues.
Biogéographie et écologie
C'est une espèce endémique des Alpes centrales, de la France à l'Autriche. Sur le territoire national, elle est connue des Alpes maritimes à la Savoie. Elle fréquente les pelouses rocheuses ou caillouteuses à gazon ras et des Hélianthèmes, entre 2000 et 2500 mètres d'altitude.

Corresponds to a report on the basis of at least one observation proved within a period of 10 years (20 years for little-known invertebrates) preceding the year and no presumption of extinction since obtaining the last data nor doubt on reproductive and implemented nature of this population. Probable presence
This status is based on one or more of the following criteria:
search of species incomplete but presence of supportive environments;
ecology of the species consistent with the hypothesis of his presence;
the last reliable sighting is older than 10 years compared to the reference date, no recent specific research and no presumption of extinction from that date [vertebrates, invertebrates and plants well studied (rhopalocera, grasshoppers, dragonflies ...)] ;
the last reliable observation being older than 20 years, no recent specific research and no presumption of extinction from that date [poorly known taxa: fungus, many invertebrates...].
Probable or certain absence
This point covers the absence, more difficult by nature to demonstrate than presence. This status is based on one or more of the following criteria:
intensive but unsuccessful targeted research;
lack of adequate environments;
unobserved species while its presence is easily detected;
unlikely presence for historical or biogeographical reasons.
This status must be assigned to a department in which the presence of the species is casual.
