Caractères distinctifs, espèces
Taille - femelle : 6-8 mm, mâle : 5-7 mm.
Il s'agit d'araignées sauteuses assez trapues présentant la disposition oculaire caractéristique de la famille. La coloration des deux sexes est assez semblable et spécifique. Le céphalothorax est brun, avec des bandes latérales et une bande médiane noires sur la partie thoracique. Deux bandes jaunâtres séparent ces parties sombres. L'abdomen est sombre, entouré d'une bande claire, coloration parfois atténuée chez les femelles (d'où le qualificatif « d'entouré » donné par Walckenaer). Le genre Evarcha comprend en France cinq espèces dont quatre assez communes.
Milieux colonisés
L'espèce est présente dans la végétation basse et arbustive de milieux boisés.
Chasse
Cette espèce chasse des proies, parfois bien plus grandes qu'elle, dans la végétation des sous-bois. Il n'y aurait pas de loge de repos. Lorsque la lumière du jour diminue, l'araignée se suspend à un fil dans la végétation, les pattes contre elle. La position est gardée jusqu'au lever du jour.
Développement, cycle
Les adultes sont présents du printemps à l'automne (surtout de mai à septembre). Le cycle est annuel. La mue a lieu dans une loge de soie, de même que la ponte et une courte garde des jeunes.

The map presents a summary at the 10 x 10 km grid of the observation data for the species transmitted to the SINP. These data have been subjected to validation filters.
The map presents a reference distribution layer of the species at the scale of departments and marine sectors. The presence and absence data were established by expertise within a network of partners. This reference distribution is used in the validation process of the SINP data at the INPN level.
Corresponds to a report on the basis of at least one observation proved within a period of 10 years (20 years for little-known invertebrates) preceding the year and no presumption of extinction since obtaining the last data nor doubt on reproductive and implemented nature of this population. For migratory species, the presence indicated concerns areas of reproduction.
