Trichoptera of the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Palatinate forest / North Vosges (Germany, France)

Description

Caddisflies (Trichoptera) were sampled from streams or by terrestrial light-traps in southwestern Germany and in the border region of Alsace (France) within the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Palatinate forest / North Vosges. This low mountain range belongs to the “western highlands” ecoregion, and is part of the “Western European broadleaf forests”. All studied streams belong to the type of “Small fine substrate dominated siliceous highland rivers”, which are affected by sandy deposits and sandstone. Influences of climatic and bioclimatic factors, altitude and land cover types on the distribution of caddisfly species were modelled.
