Harbour seals GPS telemetry in Baie du Mont Saint-Michel

Abstract:
8 harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) were captured in the Baie du Montt-Saint-Michel (France) between January 2006 and October 2007 and fitted with Fastloc GPS/GSM tags (Sea Mammal Research Unit - SMRU, UK). The project was funded by the DIREN Basse Normandie. The study was conducted by Cecile Vincent at the University of La Rochelle (France) in collaboration with SMRU, Aero’Baie, PELAGIS (CNRS/La Rochelle University), the Office national de la chasse de la faune sauvage (ONCFS), the Zoo de La Fleche and the Zoo La Bourbansais. Seals were caught under licenses delivered by the French ministry of the environment.

Identification of individual movements and foraging areas of harbour seals
