This dataset concerns the Cicadas (Hemiptera Auchenorrhyncha Cicadidae) from Switzerland. Data sources include Swiss museum collections, scientific publications, field observations collected by the few volunteer entomologists interested in the group and since 2004 during the national inventory undertaken by Thomas Hertach with the support of many cantons. The period covered by the data is from 1745 to the present day. All data provided have been subjected to a validation procedure (http://www.cscf.ch/cscf/validation).
