This dataset includes Amphibian occurrence records from Switzerland and adjacent areas. Data sources are the literature, museum collections and field observations. The latter and most important resource is provided by a large network of volunteer collaborators, regional representatives of the Swiss Coordination Office for Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (http://www.karch.ch) as well as environmental impact studies, national and regional inventories, monitorings, field work for Red Lists and academic work. The period covered by the data extends from 1820 to the present day. All data provided have been subject to a validation procedure (http://www.cscf.ch/cscf/validation).
