Description

Uncommon forest-like Juniperus phoenicea ssp. phoenicea and Juniperus phoenicea ssp. lycia formations of rocky scarps, plateaux and slopes, coastal dunes of the western and central Mediterranean basin, the North African coastal areas, the eastern Aegean coast and Cyprus. Most Mediterranean formations dominated by Juniperus phoenicea are scrubs, thickets or arborescent matorrals, listed under units 32.132, 32.45, 32.55, 32.B5 or, in dunal formations, unit 16.272. Only exceptional, tall and dense formations, appropriately characterized as woodland, are listed in this unit.
