Description

Forests of Acer pseudoplatanus, with Ulmus glabra, Fagus sylvatica, Fraxinus excelsior, of slopes and ravines of the montane to subalpine levels of the northern pre-Alps, in particular, of Bavaria, Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg, of the Vosges, the Black Forest, the Bayerischerwald, the Upper Austrian B”hmerwald, with a sparse shrub layer formed by Corylus avellana, Lonicera xylosteum, Rubus idaeus and the rare but characteristic Salix appendiculata, and an herb layer composed of Geranium robertianum, Impatiens noli-tangere, Lamiastrum galeobdolon agg., Lysimachia nemorum, Mercurialis perennis, Oxalis acetosella, Prenanthes purpurea, Aconitum paniculatum, Aconitum napellus, Adenostyles alliariae, Athyrium distantifolium, Chaerophyllum villosii, Cicerbita alpina, Crepis pyrenaica, Heracleum sphandylium ssp. elegans, Polygonatum verticillatum, Ranunculus platanifolius, Rumex alpestris, Saxifraga rotundifolia, Senecio cordatus, Streptopus amplexifolius, Thelypteris limbosperma, Veratrum album, Viola biflora.
