Description

Low shrub formations with pronounced Mediterranean affinities formed as a degradation stage of thermophile deciduous forests (Quercion pubescentis, Ostryo-Carpinion) or sometimes of Quercus rotundifolia forests in the supra-Mediterranean belt of the Mediterranean basin. Included here are only those formations that are characteristic of the supra-Mediterranean level; formations, particularly of the lower supra-Mediterranean, that are closely related to meso-Mediterranean communities have been included under units 32.4 and 32.5.
