Description

Juniperus phoenicea ssp. phoenicea and Juniperus phoenicea ssp. lycia forests of the Mediterranean and Saharo-Mediterranean regions. Mediterranean formations dominated by Juniperus phoenicea are scrubs, thickets or arborescent matorrals, listed under units 32.132, 32.45, 32.55, 32.B5 or, in dunal formations, unit 16.272. Exceptional, tall and dense formations, however, may be more appropriately characterized as woodland and listed in this unit. Saharo-Mediterranean formations may more often take the appearence of an open or steppe forest, listed here and under 9.
