Les crues violentes du Vidourle et de ses affluents induisent une problématique importante de gestion du risque inondation, avec un ensemble de projets d'aménagements lourds (barrages, bassins de rétention...) actuellement à l'étude. L'effet cumulé de ces aménagements peut s'avérer très néfaste à la conservation du riche patrimoine naturel de la vallée du Vidourle et la problématique inondation doit donc être envisagée à l'échelle de l'ensemble du bassin versant, en privilégiant les capacités naturelles de rétention des zones humides et des ripisylves.
