Description

Wet and humid heaths of anmoors of middle European Hercynian hills and their periphery, in particular, of the Black Forest and the Vosges, at the continental limit of the range of the Western European wet heaths, dominated by Calluna vulgaris in association with Scirpus cespitosus ssp. germanicus accompanied by Juncus squarrosus, Sphagnum compactum, Sphagnum tenellum, Leucobryum glaucum, Scirpus cespitosus ssp. cespitosus, Molinia caerulea. Facies may be dominated by Scirpus cespitosus with little or no Calluna vulgaris and constitute oligotrophic humid grasslands included in unit 37.32.
