Description

Cushiony domes or buttes of Palaearctic bogs, mainly made of red, yellow or brown sphagna, with other mosses, in particular, Campylopus pyriformis (Campylopus fragilis var. pyriformis), liverworts, including Odontoschisma sphagni, Mylia anomala, lichens (Cladonia spp., Cladina spp.), Andromeda polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Drosera rotundifolia, and a small admixture of vascular plants characteristic of the lawn, such as Eriophorum vaginatum, Carex pauciflora, Scirpus cespitosus, or of dwarf shrub hummocks, in particular, Calluna vulgaris, Ledum palustre, Erica tetralix, communities which are, in any case, usually closely associated with these.
