Description

Almost pure swards of Eriophorum scheuchzeri fringing small, cold, acidic lakes above the tree limit. Permanently inundated, they include few other vascular plants, limited to a few individuals of Carex nigra, Carex rostrata, Carex lachenalii, Carex brunnescens, Juncus filiformis, Eriophorum angustifolium, Deschampsia cespitosa; the moss Drepanocladus exannulatus is usually present and abundant.
