Description des postes typologiques

This forest occurs at elevations of 250-800m in Martinique, on windward and interior, steep, very exposed slopes that are prone to landslide. The 3-8m tall canopy is dominated by Prestoea montana, with short, gnarled small trees of Byrsonima martinicensis, Ilex sideroxyloides, and Hedyosmum arborescens. Large herbs such as Heliconia bihai, Anthurium spp., and Asplundia rigida are common. Mosses, ferns, and lycopods are abundant and diverse.
