Descriptif officiel

This habitat type contains two biotopes which, although have different physical habitat characteristics, share the fact that they colonise new areas of artificial substrata relatively quickly. The Ascidiella aspersa fouling biotope (A4.722) is found on wave-sheltered artificial substrata such as discarded fishing nets/mooring lines. A separate fouling biotope (A4.721) is described for open coast wrecks. This biotope has a characteristic faunal community of Alcyonium digitatum and the anemone Metridium senile. Other species recorded in this complex (primarily under subunit A4.721) include the hydroid Nemertesia antennina, the anemones Actinothoe sphyrodeta and Sagartia elegans, the cup coral Caryophyllia smithii, the bryozoans Flustra foliacea and Bugula plumosa, the crabs Necora puber, Cancer pagurus and Maja squinado and the lobster Homarus gammarus.

Ce type de milieu comprend deux habitats qui, tout en ayant des caractéristiques physiques différentes, ont en commun la colonisation assez rapide de nouveaux substrats artificiels. L’habitat de type « salissure » à Ascidiella aspersa (A4.722) est présent sur des substrats artificiels abrités des vagues, par exemple des filets de pêche ou des lignes de mouillage abandonnés. Un habitat distinct (A4.721) est décrit pour les épaves sur les côtes ouvertes. Cet habitat possède une biocénose faunistique caractéristique dominée par Alcyonium digitatum et l’anémone Metridium senile. Les autres espèces observées dans ce complexe d’habitats (principalement dans l’habitat A4.721) comprennent l’hydraire Nemertesia antennina, les anémones Actinothoe sphyrodeta et Sagartia elegans, le scléractiniaire Caryophyllia smithii, les bryozoaires Flustra foliacea et Bugula plumosa, les crabes Necora puber, Cancer pagurus et Maja brachydactyla, de même que le homard Homarus gammarus.
