La ZNIEFF se trouve dans une zone de coteaux peu urbanisée mais en partie cultivée, en vignes essentiellement. Quelques parcelles destinées à l'exploitation sylvicoles sont présentes à l'est du périmètre.
Toutes les espèces animales et végétales de la ZNIEFF sont inféodées aux milieux ouverts. La colonisation naturelle des pelouses et garrigues peu boisés par les espèces ligneuses peut donc à terme affecter le patrimoine naturel du site.
Le Busard cendré construit son nid à même le sol. Il est donc particulièrement vulnérable au dérangement.
